 Function

 

This bridles isolates the cleaning section strip tension from the uncoiling strip tension.

The bridle is designed to maintain tension in the cleaning section when the upstream tension is zero during an entry coil changeover.

The bridle stand consists of a fabricated, welded structural steel base and side frame which will support the bearings and roll assemblies.  The bearings are mounted in pillow blocks.

The bridle is a two-roll unit with the rolls configured to maximize the wrap angle and hence maximize the bridle tension multiplying capability.

Snubber rolls are provided for the entry and exit rolls these are utilised to provide a snubbbing force to enable the bridle to create tension with zero entry tension.

The snubber roll is mounted on a pivoting sub frame, which is connected to the fixed frame via grease lubricated pins and bushes and actuated by two double acting cylinders.

Each bridle roll is individually driven by a variable speed vector controlled AC electric motor via gear reducers.  Gear type couplings are used between the reducer and the roll.

The gearboxes are splash lubricated.
